Space, brand & experiential design

Cheng Li brings a background in art curation and brand development, with a focus on spatial composition, visual language, and experiential design.

Her work centres on how environments are perceived and engaged with — translating aesthetic intention into physical space, and shaping how people move, interact, and experience within it.

Purpose-built

From the ground up.

The facility is purpose-built from the ground up, designed with a focus on performance, material quality, and spatial clarity. A double-layer timber structure, BWF-certified mats, and anti-glare lighting form the foundation of the space, creating a consistent and controlled environment for play.

Beyond performance, the space is composed through a deliberate selection of colour and material. Natural tones are introduced to soften the interior, drawing from the visual language of outdoor play and referencing the atmosphere of Wimbledon — where the game is framed by green, light, and openness. Within this setting, badminton is experienced with a different sense of clarity and rhythm, as the environment moves away from the enclosed character of typical indoor courts.

Every element within Canberra Badminton Centre is considered not as an addition, but as part of a complete system — where surface, light, and proportion work together to support movement, precision, and flow. The result is a space that is both functional and composed, where indoor sport carries a sense of natural presence.

Canberra Badminton Centre represents both a space and a platform. It is not simply a venue, but a defined standard for badminton in Canberra — where the game is approached with intention, shaped by environment, and experienced as part of a way of life.
